How to Use Asset Reports
Asset Reports bring together your fleet’s operational data into one reporting experience, helping you understand how your assets are being utilised, how fuel is being consumed and where driver behaviour may require attention.
Rather than reviewing individual data points across the platform, Asset Reports allow you to start with a high-level view of your operation and then drill down into individual assets and daily performance when something requires further investigation.
Getting started
Open Asset Reports from the Sky Ledge navigation menu.
Before reviewing your report, use the available filters to choose the assets and period you want to analyse.
You can:
Select your date range
Filter by asset type
Select a single asset
Select multiple assets
The information throughout Asset Reports will update based on your selected filters, allowing you to focus on a specific part of your operation or compare performance across multiple assets.
1. Start with the Overview
When you open Asset Reports, you will land on the Overview.
This provides a top-down view of your selected assets and is a good place to start when you want to understand overall fleet performance before investigating a specific area.
The Overview includes key metrics such as:
Moving time
Total distance
Total fuel consumed
Fuel consumption rate
Idle fuel consumption
Fuel stolen
Harsh driving events per 100 kilometres
Assets that have not moved
Use these metrics to quickly identify areas that may require further attention.
For example, you may notice an asset that has not moved during the selected period, unusually high fuel consumption, or a higher frequency of harsh driving events.
2. Investigate individual assets
Below the high-level metrics, the report provides a table containing the individual assets included within your selected filters.
Use the table to compare assets and identify those performing differently from the rest of your fleet.
Select an asset when you want to investigate its performance in more detail.
This allows you to move from the overall fleet picture into the underlying asset information without needing to start your investigation elsewhere.
3. Understand asset utilisation
Select the Utilisation report to understand how your assets are being used during the selected period.
The report provides key utilisation metrics including:
Utilisation
Moving time
Idle time
Stationary time
Assets that have not moved
A visual comparison of moving versus idle time helps you quickly see how operational time is being spent across your selected assets.
Below this, the asset table provides further information for each asset.
Select an individual asset to drill down into its daily performance, including:
Utilisation
Moving time
Idle time
Idle ratio
Stationary time
Mileage
This can help you identify assets that are underutilised, spending excessive time idling or remaining stationary for extended periods.
4. Understand fuel consumption
Select Fuel Consumption when you want to understand how fuel is being used across your selected assets.
The report brings together:
Fuel consumption rate
Total fuel consumed
Idle fuel consumption
Fuel refilled
Fuel stolen
These metrics provide a high-level picture of fuel performance across the assets and period you have selected.
Use the table below the summary to compare individual assets and identify those requiring further investigation.
You can then drill into an asset to review its daily information, including fuel consumption, idle fuel consumption, refills, fuel theft and mileage.
This makes it easier to understand whether unusual fuel performance is isolated to a particular day or represents a broader pattern.
5. Review Vehicle Behaviour
The Vehicle Behaviour report helps you understand driver performance events associated with your selected assets.
The report provides visibility into the number of driver performance events, including:
Harsh driving events
Speeding events
Distance travelled
Kilometres travelled per event
Looking at events alongside distance travelled provides important context when comparing assets.
For example, two assets may each record two driver performance events. However, one may have travelled only 5 kilometres while another travelled 1,200 kilometres.
Looking only at the number of events would make the assets appear similar. Considering the distance travelled provides a clearer indication of which asset may require attention.
Use kilometres per event to help identify assets experiencing driver behaviour events more frequently relative to the distance they travel.
6. Move from overview to investigation
Asset Reports are designed to help you progressively investigate your operation.
A useful workflow is:
Start with your filters: Choose the date range, asset types and assets relevant to the question you are investigating.
Review the Overview: Look for unusual results or areas requiring attention across your selected assets.
Choose the relevant report: Use Utilisation, Fuel Consumption or Vehicle Behaviour depending on what you want to understand.
Compare your assets: Use the tables and metrics to identify assets performing differently from others.
Drill into an asset: Review the underlying daily information to better understand when and where the behaviour occurred.
Example: Investigating high idle fuel consumption
Imagine you notice that idle fuel consumption is higher than expected for the period you are reviewing.
Start with the Fuel Consumption report to understand overall idle fuel consumption.
Review the asset table to identify which assets are contributing most to the result.
Select an asset to review its daily performance and determine whether the idle consumption occurred consistently throughout the selected period or was concentrated on particular days.
You can then use the Utilisation report to understand the asset’s idle time and idle ratio, providing additional context around why fuel may have been consumed while the asset was not moving.
This helps you move from identifying a fleet-level issue to understanding which assets and days may require further investigation.
Tips for getting more from Asset Reports
Use the filters to keep your analysis focused. Comparing similar asset types can provide more meaningful operational context than reviewing very different types of assets together.
Start with the Overview rather than immediately looking at individual assets. It can help highlight where your attention is most valuable.
Use daily drill-downs when a total for the selected period looks unusual. This can help identify whether an issue occurred on a particular day or represents an ongoing pattern.
When reviewing Vehicle Behaviour, consider the number of events together with the distance travelled. Event frequency provides more context than event totals alone.
When investigating fuel performance, consider fuel consumption alongside utilisation and mileage to build a more complete picture of how the asset was operating.
Bringing your fleet data together
Asset Reports are designed to reduce the amount of time required to interpret the operational data generated by your fleet.
By bringing together utilisation, fuel consumption and vehicle behaviour, you can start with the overall performance of your operation and progressively drill into the assets and days that require your attention.
